However, patients with jawbone deterioration may not initially qualify without bone grafting.

all-on-4 dental implants work

Your dentist surgically inserts four implants directly into the jaw. Two of these are placed at a strategic angle. In most cases, a temporary denture is then attached to the implant posts on the day of implant placement.

Same-Day Restoration

All-on-4 typically places a temporary denture on the same day as dental implant surgery, meaning you don’t need to go without a smile while your implants heal.

Restored Function

For patients missing most or all of their natural teeth, All-on-4 dental implants paired with a custom denture can restore the function of their smile.

Restored Appearance

Patients with missing teeth often report feeling self-conscious about their smile. Implant-supported dentures can give you the smile you’ve been dreaming of.

Maximum Stability

Traditional dentures rely on suction and denture adhesive and can slip when you eat or speak. Implant-supported dentures are secured to the implants for maximum stability.

No Preparatory Bone Grafting

The All-on-4 method can help patients with mild-to-moderate jawbone loss qualify for dental implants without preparatory bone grafting.

Jawbone Health

Dental implants are the only restorative dentistry procedure that can stop and prevent jawbone atrophy that can occur after tooth loss.

ADVANCED CARE USING ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY

At our periodontist’s office in Raleigh, NC , we use state-of-the-art dental technology for better patient care and comfort.

Our technology includes 3D cone beam scanning and 3D printers for precise treatment.

We also use advanced premium materials, like Nobel Biocare® and Straumann® dental implants.

All-on-4 Candidacy

You may be a candidate for implants if you:

Have Extensive Tooth Loss

This method is used to restore an entire arch of missing teeth. Patients only missing one tooth or even a few teeth should instead consider an implant-supported crown or bridge.

Have Sufficient Jawbone

Patients with severe jawbone deterioration may still require bone grafting, as dental implants need sufficient bone material to graft to. Our Raleigh, NC, office offers bone grafting to help patients qualify for implant placement.

Are in Good Oral Health

If you have oral health concerns such as tooth decay or gum disease , they must be addressed before implant placement to ensure a healthy foundation. We offer periodontal therapy to help those with periodontal concerns.

discomfort is not an issue

At our raleigh office

You may feel nervous about experiencing some pain when receiving your All-on-4 dental implants. Our team is pleased to put your fears to rest with calming sedation dentistry options. We offer two types of dental sedation: oral conscious sedation and intravenous (IV) sedation.

Oral Conscious Sedation

Oral conscious sedation is administered in the form of a pill that’s taken about an hour before your appointment. A friend or relative will have to drive you to our office, as it will start to take effect before you arrive. During the procedure, you’ll be aware of what’s happening and able to respond to your dentist, but feel calm and relaxed. You’ll need a ride home after your appointment.

IV Sedation

IV sedation is administered through an intravenous line. It takes effect quickly and puts you in a sort of “twilight sleep” where you may have some awareness of your surroundings, but it will be minimal. Most IV sedation patients have little to no memory of the procedure. As with oral conscious sedation, you’ll need a loved one to drive you home after the appointment.

The All-On-4 Timeline

  1. Initial Consultation: You’ll meet with Dr. Morelli at our office in Raleigh, NC. They’ll examine your gums, jawbone, and any remaining natural teeth to determine whether All-on-4 dental implants or another dental solution is right for you.
  2. Calming Sedation: On the day of your All-on-4 surgery, we’ll thoroughly numb the treatment area with local anesthesia to block any pain. Because we offer sedation dentistry, we can also incorporate a calming sedative into your treatment plan, if you so choose.
  3. Implant Placement: Your dentist will place four implants at strategically chosen points along the jawbone. They’ll serve as your new artificial tooth roots.
  4. Temporary Denture: We’ll have a temporary denture ready to secure to your dental implants immediately after they’re placed. This temporary will be made to look and feel real, so you can enjoy the benefits of a complete smile right away.
  5. Healing Period: The dental implants will fuse to your jawbone over the course of four to six months. This process is known as osseointegration.
  6. Permanent Denture: Once osseointegration is complete, you’ll return to our Raleigh office so your dentist can remove the temporary denture and secure your permanent restoration in place. After some checks and adjustments to ensure an ideal fit, your treatment will be complete!

What Will my Denture Be Made Of?

Our practice makes implant-supported dentures from zirconia, one of the strongest and most lifelike materials in dentistry. Zirconia is denser than porcelain when layered, so it’s better able to withstand the full force of your bite without chipping or cracking. This material is also easily color-matched to your natural tooth shade. The end result is a restoration that looks and functions just like the real thing.

What is the cost

For All-on-4 Dental Implants?

The total cost for All-on-4 is usually around $27,000 at our Raleigh practice. This includes dental sedation.

This may feel like a steep price to pay for dentistry, but your All-on-4 treatment is an investment in your health and well-being. Think back on the struggles you’ve faced due to tooth loss—difficulty chewing, hesitancy smiling, diminished self-confidence—and imagine how those situations would have been different with a complete smile.

Many of our All-on-4 patients go on to see new success in their personal, professional, and romantic lives. Each one tells us that the benefits of their treatment have turned out to be priceless.

How Long Does All-On-4 Last?

Implant dentures usually last around 10–15 years with good dental hygiene habits and regular visits to the dentist. Because your denture will be made of zirconia, a premium material, it may last even longer. While you will eventually need to have your denture repaired or replaced, the dental implants that support it will last a lifetime.

“Very happy to have my smile back.”

One Convenient Office

For the Entire Dental Implant Process

Many dentists do not place implants—they only restore them. For patients, this means the first implant consultation is followed up by referrals to outside professionals and additional waiting time before treatment can start. This isn’t an issue at Dr. Morelli ‘s Raleigh practice. As a trained periodontist and experienced implant dentist, he can handle every step of the dental implant timeline himself.

This includes preparatory work that can be complex, like bone grafts and sinus lifts. Our goal is to streamline your care plan so it’s easy, efficient, and gets you the results you want faster.
